Essential oils for spring short list

I have chosen familiar essential oils that are still affordable (fingers crossed), fairly easy for most people to access, and have multiple benefits that you may enjoy using.

  • Grapefruit (Citrus paradisi)
  • Bergamot (Citrus bergamia)
  • Peppermint (Mentha x piperita)
  • Geranium (Pelargonium graveolens)
  • Lemon (Citrus limon)
  • Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia)

Grapefruit essential oil for spring

Benefits of grapefruit include:lymphatic support (when applied topically, diluted in a carrier oil), emotionally uplifting, can ease anxiety, is also antiviral. Safety: white grapefruit is phototoxic, but pink grapefruit is sun safe. The one I carry is pink grapefruit. If you have some and aren’t sure which it is, assume that it’s not sun-safe.

Bergamot essential oil for spring

Benefits of bergamot include: supports the immune system, can reduce feelings of stress, anger or frustration. Safety: bergamot essential oil is phototoxic, so if you want to apply this to your body make sure to do so at night. As always, dilute well using a carrier oil for topical application.

Peppermint essential oil for spring

Benefits of peppermint include: well, what’s not to love?! Peppermint supports liver function, is cooling (think hot flashes!), supports digestion, is refreshing and stimulating. Also helps with muscle and headache pain.Safety: Avoid using peppermint on children under age 5. Also avoid if you have cardiac fibrillation or GERD.

Geranium essential oil for spring

Benefits of geranium: natural insect repellent, mood stabilizing (think PMS or general irritability), antiviral, supports a restful sleep.

Lemon essential oil for spring

Benefits of lemon: supports a healthy immune system, antiviral, detoxifying (lymphatic support), used for migraines. Safety: lemon is phototoxic, and is also a know skin irritant. Best used in your diffuser or as part of a cleaning spray. If you want to use lemon topically, be sure to dilute this very well into a carrier oil. And use it at night only.

Lavender essential oil for spring

Benefits of lavender: antihistamine/anti allergenic, supports immune function, is used as preventative treatment for tension related issues. Did you know? Lavender works best when used in LOW doses for insomnia, stress and anxiety. Too much lavender before bedtime may actually keep you awake.
